2015 STi with 353 WHP on STOCK Turbo!
Sebastian’s 2015 STI is a very clean example of what the stock STI turbo is capable of producing. Here at Boost Controlled Performance the FBO E85 (full bolt on’s with E85) is one of our more popular performance packages.
The reason why these car respond to E85 so well is because of it’s ability limit the concerns we have with intake temperature. Almost all newer turbo cars come with an intercooler from the factory. The purpose of the intercooler is to cool the charge air after the turbo and before the throttle body. Cooler, denser air provides more power and has less tendency to cause knock (engine detonation). When you raise the boost above factory levels, more heat is generated. This is our enemy! E85 helps cool the intake charge even further because it has a higher latent heat than gasoline, meaning it has the ability to wick away more heater from the air itself, creating a cooler air charge. Furthermore, E85 has an octane rating of around 105 making it far more resistant to detonation than 93 octane gasoline, allowing for more cylinder pressure and thus more power and torque.
The E85-Powered stock turbo STI turbo provides a fantastic driving experience; Monstrous torque that comes up almost instantly along with a strong midrange of horsepower that is enough to beat plenty of other cars that may roll up next to you. With proper driving, this is a proven 11-second 1/4 mile combo.
